How to find a job without experience
Work experience is one of the most important points in a job application for many employers. Everyone was faced with this vicious circle: to get a good job in their specialty, you need work experience, and to get this very experience you need to get a job. But to despair in this situation and put a “cross” on the work of your dreams is not necessary. If there is a great desire to work and develop, it is possible to find a good job without work experience, although it is difficult.
It seems that people who have just left the walls of the university have a long and difficult search for their first job. In fact, the chances of successful employment without work experience are much greater than it seems. The well-known portal Superjob.ru conducted a study, the results of which turned out to be the following data: 66% of medium-sized companies and 85% of large companies are ready to hire a specialist without experience. Successful university graduates have a rather loyal attitude, however, they undergo a more thorough and long selection process than people with serious work experience behind them.
If we analyze the pages of the most popular HR portals and job search sites, it becomes clear: every year more and more vacancies appear with the note “you can have no work experience”. Many employers are ready to teach a university graduate who has received excellent basic knowledge and turn him into a real specialist.
Despite all this, the number of graduates who literally do not know what to do next and how to search for the desired job does not become less. We have prepared several important recommendations that will help to dot the “i” on the issue of employment without work experience.
Practice shows that the vast majority of students begin to work even before graduation. Most often this is, of course, a part-time job, but it is often the case that in the last courses students have a full-time job. And then, having received a long-awaited diploma, these people often stay at their place of work, but if not, then when searching for another job, there is already some experience. Hence the conclusion: you need to think about your career before getting a diploma. Students can be taken to assistants to a specialist, for work “running errands” or for some very simple tasks that are not carried out by a specialist. If such work is related to your specialty, or you just feel that this experience will help you in your future career – be sure to agree to such offers or look for them yourself. It is important to observe the optimal balance “study – work”. Work should not interfere with studies, otherwise the whole meaning of learning is lost.
Well, if you have already missed this moment and did not begin to worry about your career, while still studying at a university, then you have no choice but to implement all other tips as effectively as possible.
Now you can find trainings and courses in almost any specialty. If you successfully complete several of them, this will give you an edge over other job applicants who also have no experience like you. Successful completion of courses or participation in training usually ends with the issuance of certificates or certificates from the company that organized them. Attach them to your resume, and you will already look a bit more presentable in the eyes of the employer. Moreover, attending training courses is a real opportunity to improve your professional skills and expand theoretical knowledge to practical ones.
We will not refute the fact that the string “work experience” is one of the most important in the resume. And employers pay attention to it first of all. However, if there is no work experience yet, you can leave at the expense of other advantages. In the resume, indicate the maximum of your achievements and skills that you think may influence the employer’s decision. In addition to the mandatory items in the summary (personal information, education, etc.) fill in such lines as:
personal qualities: sociability, purposefulness, focus on results, activity, etc .;
your skills and abilities: knowledge of computer programs that are used in your field of activity, knowledge of any technologies or techniques, etc .;
knowledge of foreign languages: specify the level of proficiency;
certificates, special diplomas, etc.
If the topic of your thesis is directly related to the content of the work for which you are applying, then indicate it. The same applies to the place of practice. Indicate where you did the practice, what exactly they did and what they learned.
