Own business: screen printing
The name of this method was due to the use in the process of printing silk mesh, which acted as a stencil applied to the product, so that the ink penetrated into it, leaving a characteristic pattern depending on the holes in the sieve. Silk in modern screen printing is no longer used (it is not economically feasible), but the principle itself remains the same. At its core, this is practically the only way to print on non-format products, while silk-screen printing allows you to create images on objects of any size – from small electrical boards to the sides of ships. Of course, the screen printing process is somewhat more laborious than working with offset or digital printers, but there are no restrictions on the possibility of printing. This is the only way to print anything, anything.
And the demand for such services is very high. At the same time, drawing pictures and images on an unformatted product interests not only entrepreneurs within their production or advertising activities, but also individuals who want to decorate some household items or personal items. In any large city there is at least one company that provides screen printing, in small towns such companies may not be. But even if there are competitors, opening such a business can be a promising and profitable business.
However, it is necessary to analyze the market before the start in order to know whether the demand is satisfied with the offer, because it is very difficult to get some special competitive advantage – manual equipment for screen printing implies the full range of screen printing capabilities, and hardly any company interested in its survival , provides services only to create images on certain products from specific materials and forms. However, silk-screen printing has some specific application possibilities. For example, it can be used to apply a special glue for joining small products – it is quite problematic to do it manually, a special stencil makes it possible to carry out jewelery work and glue small parts together by applying glue.
Since there are practically no restrictions on the paint used or the applied material for screen printing, you can use special pastes for various needs – from attaching radio elements to applying patterns on pastries. It is better to be able to use all these opportunities, as this is an additional competitive advantage that will find its client. It is best not to limit yourself to anything, trying to go to meet any consumer, because technical capabilities allow it.
It is dangerous to work informally on the threshold of the enterprise at the height of the work of the tax inspectorate, which never sleeps, so you need to register as a business entity before starting. In this kind of business, you can remain an individual, registering as an individual entrepreneur, but if several people start a business, then the best solution would be to open a limited liability company. All these issues will be resolved within a month, requiring about 20 thousand rubles. Silk-screen printing falls under the code (OKPD 2) 18.12 Other printing services, which will be specified in the documents.
Even in not so distant times, beginning businessmen opened stencil printing shops literally in their own homes, but for full-fledged and streamlined work, rent or purchase of a separate office is required. For a production room you need at least 120 m2, in this area it is possible to conveniently arrange all the standard equipment and not have problems moving. In addition, you will need the office itself with an area of 30 m2. However, you can use smaller areas, if you do not buy some very large equipment, which will be discussed below. For a novice entrepreneur, of course, it’s preferable to rent a room, in order to reduce its cost, you can rent only an office with the condition that it has a large basement space (namely, it will have production). This restricts the rental of premises only on the ground floor, but this is not critical at all, and in some ways even an advantage – being on a busy street, the company will attract passersby who will be interested in the services offered.
The cost of rent will be from 150 thousand rubles per month, while the amount can be much higher, because it is optimally located in the central area of the city. Of course, you can try to attract customers only through advertising, renting an office or even just a room on the outskirts, but this will only pay off until the first competitors appear (it is easy to guess what will happen if they are already present). In addition to the equipment for screen printing, you need to equip the office itself, which will be the hallmark of the company.
